This procedure may induce a variety of postoperative complications including infection, perforation of the sinus membrane, and maxillary sinusitis. However, postoperative infections are relatively infrequent. In this report, an unusual form of infection resulting in a facial skin fistula following maxillary sinus elevation is described.
