This book is a compact guide to the new academic discipline of "Ethics and History of Medicine and Dentistry.” It is based on the “National Competence-Based Catalogue of Learning Objectives in Dentistry” (NKLZ), which was introduced in 2021.
Part I of the manual is dedicated to history, and Part II to ethics, taking into account clinical-ethical case reports. In both parts, the main focus is on dentistry and its specialist representatives. In addition, many references are made to medicine and the medical profession, as is required by the new dental regulations for this subject.
Prof. Dominik Groß holds a doctorate in dentistry, medicine, and the humanities. He has been Professor of History, Theory, and Ethics of Medicine and has held the chair of the same title at RWTH Aachen University since 2005. Prof. Groß has been involved in education and research in History and Ethics of Dentistry for many years. In addition, he chairs the Ethics Working Group of the DGZMK, is an expert for the 3rd section of the dental examination at the IMPP and is a reviewer for the NKLZ.
– Prof. Dr. Alfons Hugger in Journal of Craniomandibular Function 04/2023
