Dr. Michael A. Pikos DDS

Michael A. Pikos, DDS, is an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine and a clinical associate professor at the Department of Periodontology and the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He is the author of Bone Augmentation in Implant Dentistry (Quintessence, 2019), serves on the editorial boards of several journals, and has lectured extensively on dental implants in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Prof. Nelson R. Pinto

Chile, Santiago

Prof Nelson R. Pinto is Professor in the Department of Periodontology and Implantology at Universidad de Los Andes in Santiago, Chile, and Founder of the Research Center for Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering. He is visiting faculty in the Department of Periodontology at Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and in the Advanced Education Program in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University in California. His main accomplishment is the development of Natural Guided Regeneration Therapy (NGRT), and his research in this area was recognized in 2012 by the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) and in 2016 with the Journal of Wound Care & WUWHS Award for Best Contribution to Clinical Research for 2012 to 2016. In 2018, he received the Punyaarjan Humanitarian Service Award for his professional dedication to chronic wound healing and helping change patients’ lives through NGRT.

Roberto Pistilli MD, DDS

Italy

Roberto Pistilli, MD, DDS, is a maxillofacial surgeon executive at the San Camilo Folanini Hospital in Rome, Italy. He directs annual dissection courses of the neck and oral cavity at Miguel Hernandez de Elche University in Spain and is an adjunct professor teaching postgraduate courses at Bologna Univeristy as well as Genoa University. Dr Pistilli is a member of many professional associations and currently serves as the President of the Roman Academy of Oral Surgery and Implantology; the Vice President of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration; and the Vice President of Bone, Biomaterials, & Beyond Academy. Prof. Dr. med. dent. Bjarni E. Pjetursson DDS, MAS Perio, PhD

Iceland

Prof Dr Bjarni Pjetursson received his DDS from the University of Iceland in 1990. From 1990 to 2000 he worked as a general dentist in his private clinic in Iceland. In 2000 he started his postgraduate training in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He received his specialist certificate (EFP & SSP) and Masters of Advanced Studies in Periodontology and Doctorate in Dentistry from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bern. From 2003 to 2005 he did his postgraduate training in Prosthodontics at the University of Bern. From 2005 he was Assistant Professor and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics, University of Bern, and from 2009 to 2014 the Dean of the Faculty of Odontology, University of Iceland. Presently he is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry, University of Iceland, and a Titular Professor at the Division of Fixed Prosthodontics and Biomaterials at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Prof Dr Pjetursson is a board member of EAO, an ITI Fellow, Associate Editor of the International Journal of Prosthodontics, and member of the editorial board of Clinical Oral Implants Research. He has published extensively in and given over 700 lectures in 50 countries around the world. His research interests are clinical studies in implant dentistry and evidenced-based evaluation of different treatment modalities in implant and prosthetic dentistry.

Waldemar D. Polido

Dr. Waldemar D. Polido is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with a MS and PhD from the PUCRS School of Dentistry in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Prof. Angelo Putignano MD, DDS

After completing his M.D., Prof. Angelo Putignano received a postgraduate certificate for Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Ancona in Italy. Following this, he became the professor in Restorative Dentistry for Marche Polytechnic University’s School of Dentistry. Prof. Dr. Marc Quirynen

Prof Marc Quirynen graduated as a dentist in 1980 from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, where he went on to complete training in periodontology and obtain his PhD. In 1990, he was appointed as a professor at Catholic University and is currently Chairman of the Department of Periodontology. His research focuses on simplification and optimization of periodontal therapy, and over the past decade, he has explored platelet concentrates in soft and hard tissue regeneration. Prof Quirynen has published over 450 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and serves on several editorial boards, including for the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Clinical Oral implants Research. His most inspiring lectures deal with the clinical benefits of L-PRF and the prevention of peri-implantitis.
