Mariano Sanz is professor and chair of periodontology at the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) and a professor in the faculty of Odontology at the University of Oslo (Norway). He graduated in medicine in 1981 from the University Complutense of Madrid, from which he received a degree in stomatology in 1983 and where he qualified as a Doctor of Medicine in 1985. He received his speciality in periodontology from the Universtiy of Califormia in Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1987. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of San Sebastian in Santiago (Chile), the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) and the University of Coimbra (Portugal). Since 2005, Prof Sanz has been chair of the ETEP research group on the aetiology and therapy of periodontal diseases, whose main lines of research are oral microbiology, bacterial-host interactions, and antimicrobial approaches in the treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis. The research group has conducted clinical trials to measure the efficacy of different approaches to periodontal regeneration surgical protocols using dental implants, and therapeutic approaches to treat peri-implantitis. Prof Sanz has published 230 articles in scientific journals, written 50 book chapters, and has participated as an invited speaker at more than 200 scientific events in the last five years. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Evidence-Based Dental Practice and a member of the editorial boards of various other dental journals. He has been awarded the Jens Waerhaug Research Prize by the Scandinavian Society of Periodontology (1984), the Outstanding Service Award from the International Association for Dental Research (2015) and the IADR Straumann Award in Periodontal Regenerative Medicine (2015). He is a member of the executive committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and chair of its workshop committee. He has previously served the EFP both as president (1993-1994) and secretary general (1998–2005). He is president of the Osteology Foundation, president of the International Association for Dental Research’s continental European division, and president-elect of the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE).
Dr. Ignacio Sanz Martín is currently a PhD candidate at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, studying under Prof. Mariano Sanz since 2012. He also holds positions as Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at the same university and as Visiting Faculty at Universidad Internacional de Catalunya and Universidad Europea de Madrid. Additionally, he serves as Associate Periodontist and Implantologist at Centro de Implantología y Periodoncia (CIMPLA) and Director of the ITI Study Club in Castilla y León. Dr. Sanz Martín is involved in continuing education as a coordinator for the Spanish Association of Periodontology. He is a member of the Osteology Expert Council and has an Executive Master from ESADE Business School.
Dr. med. dent. Fabian Schick is a specialist in biological dentistry and ceramic implants. Born and raised in Ehingen (Donau), he completed his dental studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. After his doctorate and various continuing education courses, he now works in a practice clinic for integrative, biological, holistic dentistry in Munich.
Dr. Schick is a certified implantologist and a member of the International Society of Metal-Free Implantology and the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology. His publications deal with the connection between dentistry and chronic inflammatory autoimmune diseases.

Dr. Frank Spitznagel is an Associate Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics, University Hospital Düsseldorf and Heinrich-Heine-University, Düsseldorf, Germany. He graduated in 2014 from the University of Freiburg and obtained his Dr. med. Dent degree from the same University in 2016. He was awarded with the 1st prize “Young Esthetics” from the Germany Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (DGÄZ) in 2019 and received a research fellowship from the International College of Prosthodontists (ICP) in 2022-2023. He has also won the first place at the premiere of the ITI Open Mic New Speaker Contest (ITI – International Team for Implantology) in September 2022 in Germany. Dr. Spitznagel is a board certified prosthodontist of the German Society of Prosthodontics and Biomaterials (DGPro) and certified in Implant Dentistry (DGI- German Society of Implantology). His clinical and scientific focus is in the field of fixed tooth- and implant-supported all-ceramic reconstructions, digital workflows and implant dentistry.
My name is Malin Strasding, I am Lecturer at the University of Geneva, Division for Fixed Prosthodontics and Biomaterials (Head: Prof. Irena Sailer) since 2016. I studied in Freiburg, Germany and then worked as a Research Assistant in the Department for Prosthetic Dentistry (Head: Prof. J. Strub) from 2014-2016. I am specialized in Reconstructive Dentistry (Swiss Society for Reconstructive Dentistry SSRD) and Specialist in Prosthodontics (DGPro).
Currently, I am resposible for the undergraduate clinical training and co-responsable for the postgraduate specialisation programme. My research focus lies on novel restorative concepts in fixed prosthodontics supported by digital technologies.

He received his Certificate in Periodontics and Masters degree in Oral Biology from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, New Orleans, USA in 2005. Since 2006, Dr Vergoullis is the leading Periodontist at the Vergoullis Dental Clinic in Rhodes, Greece and in 2010 he became a Visiting Assistant Professor of the Periodontics Department at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, USA. Dr. Vergoullis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He is also an International member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the ICOI and an honorary member of the Aesthetic Academies of Greece, Lithuania and Bulgaria. I’m a Prosthodontist and dental technician as well. It’s something uncommon but very important if you want to understand how it all works. Sitting behind a bench was one of the most important and relevant aspects of my professional life. After 21 years at the uni I decided to make a PhD. It was the right step. It gave me critical sense in order to develop a line of research. My interest is in digital dentistry.
Alexander Volz, born on June 1, 1979, has been the Commercial Manager at [fotzn’spanglerei] in dentistry since 2019. In 2021, he founded mensch & praxis, offering coaching and online courses for dentists and practice owners.
In 2023, he established the Ladies Club Implants, an implantology curriculum tailored to female dentists. In 2024, he expanded his entrepreneurial activities with ZugSpritz, a regional aperitivo concept.

Dr. Tobias Wilck, a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery, can look back on an impressive career. Born in 1967 in Hamburg, he completed his medical studies at the University of Hamburg and gained experience in Kingston (Jamaica) and Vienna before completing his dental studies in Hamburg and Tübingen. His specialist training took him to Hamburg, Tübingen, and finally to Krefeld-Uerdingen, where he worked as a senior physician.
