Implant Therapy in the Esthetic Zone

Daniel Buser, DDS, Prof em Dr med dent, is one of the most experienced international implant surgeons, with 35 years of surgical experience. He is past professor and chairman in the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland and past president of the European Association for Osseointegration, the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology, the Swiss Society of Oral Surgery and Stomatology, and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the ITI Honorary Fellowship and the Morton Amsterdam Award. He has authored and coauthored over 400 publications and is editor of 30 Years of Guided Bone Regeneration (Quintessence, 2021), which was recently published in its third edition. Dr Buser is cofounder of the Buser & Sculean Academy, which offers continuing education courses in periodontology and implant dentistry, and lectures nationally and internationally.

Il Prof. Urs Belser si è laureato presso l'Istituto di Odontoiatria dell'Università di Zurigo in Svizzera. Ha conseguito la specializzazione post-laurea in odontoiatria ricostruttiva (specialista certificato) presso l'Università di Zurigo e dal 1976 al 1980 è stato professore assistente e poi docente senior presso il Dipartimento di protesi fissa e materiali dentali (Prof. Dr. Peter Schärer, MS). Dal 1980 al 1982 è stato inoltre Visiting Assistant Professor presso i Dipartimenti di Biologia Orale (Prof. Dr. A.G. Hannam) e di Scienze Cliniche Dentali (Prof. Dr. W.A. Richter) della Facoltà di Odontoiatria dell'Università della British Columbia in Canada. Tra il 1983 e il 2012, il Prof. Belser ha ricoperto il ruolo di Professore e Capo del Dipartimento di Protesi Fissa e Occlusione presso la Scuola di Medicina Dentale dell'Università di Ginevra, ricoprendo il ruolo di Presidente dell'Associazione Svizzera di Odontoiatria Ricostruttiva dal 1984 al 1988. Nel 2002 ha ricevuto il premio per la ricerca scientifica della Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, dal 2002 al 2003 è stato presidente dell'Associazione Europea di Protesi Dentaria (EPA) e nel 2006 è stato Visiting Professor presso l'Università di Harvard nel Dipartimento di Odontoiatria Restaurativa e Scienze dei Biomateriali (Prof. H. P. Weber). Dal 2012 è professore ospite presso il Dipartimento di Chirurgia Orale (Prof. Dr. Buser) e il Dipartimento di Odontoiatria Ricostruttiva (Prof. Dr. Urs Braegger) della Scuola di Medicina Dentale dell'Università di Berna. Nel 2013 è diventato socio onorario dell'International Team of Implantology (ITI). Tra il 2013 e il 2017 ha ricoperto il ruolo di caporedattore di Forum Implantologicum (ITI) e nel 2014 è diventato membro onorario a vita dell'American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) e ha ricevuto il Lecturer of the Year Award. Nel 2018 gli è stato conferito il Morton Amsterdam Interdisciplinary Teaching Award (insieme al Prof. Dr. Buser). La ricerca del Prof. Belser si concentra sull'odontoiatria implantare, con particolare attenzione all'estetica e agli ultimi sviluppi nel campo della tecnologia CAD/CAM e delle ceramiche dentali ad alte prestazioni, nonché sulla medicina ricostruttiva adesiva.Nel 2018 gli è stato conferito il Morton Amsterdam Interdisciplinary Teaching Award (insieme al Prof. Dr. D. Buser). Daniel Wismeijer graduated from the University of Nijmegen Dental School (1984) and received his PhD in 1996. Until 2006 he worked at the Amphia Teaching Hospital in Breda in the Oral Surgery and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Department. In 1985 he started a general dental practice, which has been a referral practice for oral implantology since 1990. He was president of the Dutch Prosthodontic Association and the Dutch Association for Gnathology. He has been an ITI Fellow since 1993, a member of the ITI Board of Directors since 2013 and Chair of the ITI Education Committee since 2015. In 2006 he became Professor of Oral Implantology and Prosthetic Dentistry at ACTA Amsterdam where he was Chair and Head of the Department of Oral Implantology and Prosthetic Dentistry until 2020.
