In the course of the further development of the Cerec unit, the endeavor to simplify the design component in the production of restorations from generation to generation stood in the foreground. A common feature of all previous design models is an abstract line framework made of initially monochrome green, then later colored construction lines, which should provide the dentist assistance by reference to x,y coordinates in order to not only image the restoration to be milled but also to detect any design errors on time, in order not to be confronted with an unsatisfactory result at the end of the milling process.
