The possibility to deliver an esthetic implant prosthesis
depends, for the most part, upon the proper position
of the implant and a sufficient volume of hard and soft
tissues available. The conditions that should guide the
correct 3-D placement of an implant will be examined,
demonstrating the consequences that can result when
accepting compromises in the mesio-distal, bucco-lingual
and apico-coronal positioning. Several clinical
cases will be shown to exemplify prosthetic solutions
for non-ideal implant placements. Through them, the
importance of a proper surgical planning and execution
for a simplified (prosthetically speaking) treatment
and for achieving a successful result will be demonstrated.
