Liebe Kollegen und Freunde des Symposions "Praktische KIEFERORTHOPÄDIE",
31 Jahre Symposion praktische Kieferorthopädie OHNE Unterbrechungen und nun haben wir uns 2 Jahre nicht gesehen – kaum zu glauben!
Weiterbildung fand während dieser Zeit hauptsächlich durch online Veranstaltungen und Zeitschriften statt. Hat das den Weg endgültig geebnet für eine voll – digitale Kieferorthopädie inkl. Alignern, 3D – Druckern, online Terminen, etc.? Welchen Stellenwert nehmen denn noch "klassische" Diagnostik- und Behandlungstechniken ein?
Wir sind uns sicher, dass Kieferorthopädie mehr ist als nur "hippe" virtuelle Apparaturen – das wird u.a. ein Blick auf die Komplexität der Themen Kiefergelenk und Extraktionen zeigen. Doch welche Wege wird die Kieferorthopädie – gezwungen, stark beeinflusst oder freiwillig – in Zukunft beschreiten? Wieviel kann uns dabei Recht und Ethik leiten? Die Frage die wir in Berlin diskutieren wollen, lautet:
Ist die klassische Kieferorthopädie ein Auslaufmodell?

Dr. Bennett completed his specialist orthodontic training at the Eastman Postgraduate Institute in London. He is well-known for his work on treatment mechanics and has authored or co-authored seven orthodontic textbooks. With Dr. Richard McLaughlin and Dr. Hugo Trevisi he developed a widely-accepted prescription and system of orthodontic treatment, released in 1997. In the 25 years since then he has worked with Dr Mclaughlin to further improve the philosophy.
Dr. Jens J. Bock is an orthodontist in joint practice with his wife in Fulda, Germany. He is the author and co-editor of several textbooks in the field of diagnostics and clinical orthodontics. Dr. Bock is co-editor of Kieferorthopädie and has published widely nationally and internationally in the field of modern imaging and digital procedures.
Prof. Dominik Groß holds a doctorate in dentistry, medicine, and the humanities. He has been Professor of History, Theory, and Ethics of Medicine and has held the chair of the same title at RWTH Aachen University since 2005. Prof. Groß has been involved in education and research in History and Ethics of Dentistry for many years. In addition, he chairs the Ethics Working Group of the DGZMK, is an expert for the 3rd section of the dental examination at the IMPP and is a reviewer for the NKLZ.
Dr. Haubrich studied dentistry at the University of Freiburg (Albert Ludwigs Universität), graduating in 2001. After working as a general dentist, she began her postgraduate studies in orthodontics in the private practice of Dr. Werner Schupp from 2003 to 2005, continuing her studies at the University of Berlin (Charité Universität) under the direction of Prof. Dr. RR Miethke. Since becoming a certified specialist of orthodontics in 2007, she has been collaborating with Dr. Werner Schupp and Dr. Julia Funke in a private practice in Cologne, Germany. She is co-author of the book Funktionslehre in der Kieferorthopädie (2012), and has published several articles concerning orthodontic aligner therapy in children, function, and pain therapy published in national and international journals. She is associate editor of the Journal of Aligner Orthodontics (JAO) and lecturer for the University of Vienna, Austria. Dr. Haubrich has been a clinical speaker for Align Technology since 2005, and is a board member and Conference President of the German Society of Aligner Orthodontics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Aligner Orthodontie, DGAO).
Björn Ludwig is an orthodontics specialist who operates his private office in a small village in Germany. He holds positions at two universities: the University of Homburg/Saar in Germany and the Department of Orthodontics, Institute of Odontology, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. While his primary focus is on clinical work, he has a strong affinity for technology, which consistently sparks his interest. He is dedicated to advancing as a researcher and writer, actively participating in a variety of research projects and taking on editorial roles for academic journals. Furthermore, he serves as an editor for several books and is the author of numerous book chapters in classic orthodontic texts. In addition to his passion for orthodontics, he also takes pleasure in cycling as a means tounwind.
Ralf J. Radlanski is Director of the Department of Craniofacial Developmental Biology at Charité, the Center for Dental and Craniofacial Sciences. As an anatomist, an internationally esteemed scientist, and as a practicing orthodontist, he works at the interface between biology-anatomy on the one hand and esthetic clinical requirements on the other, a crucial area of interaction in many clinical disciplines.
Prof. Wiechmann received the recognition as a specialist in orthodontics in 1997. He has been in private practice since 1998 in Bad Essen, Germany, which is actually the biggest lingual practice in the world with about 1000 lingual patients in active treatment. In 2011 he completed his "Habilitation" in orthodontics. Since his appointment in 2013, he is Professor of Orthodontics at the Hannover Medical School. In 2016 he received the Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Montpellier, France. Prof. Wiechmann received several prices and honors for his scientific work. Among them the Honorary price of the French Federation of Orthodontics. Since 2018 he is the Deputy Editor of the journal Head and Face Medicine
