ICOI Winter Implant Symposium

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Dental implants are a part of everyday life, today. The number of dental implants being utilized each and every day in different corners of the world are unprecedented. The dental implant industry is estimated to be around 4.6 billion dollars in 2022. Millions of people around the globe benefit from the tremendous improvements in the quality of life provided by dental implants. Unfortunately, as the general population enjoys more and more dental implant restorations, failing and ailing implants are readily encountered as well. Peri-implantitis and peri-implant mucositis are commonly diagnosed, and the prevalence is around 45 percent at patient level for peri-implant mucositis and 20 percent for peri-implantitis. Can we realistically promise our patients that the implant will have a lifespan similar or better to their life? Is it possible to get zero bone loss? Does “implant for life” have true evidence, or is it a simple marketing catchphrase on the part of dentists and implant manufacturers?

ICOI has been at the center of advancing this unique field of dental implants for half a century. Through education, camaraderie, and advocacy in many fronts, we have come thus far. This symposium brings together notable speakers and leaders in contemporary dental implants from around the world. Thursday morning will begin with the popular pre-symposium workshops followed by the main podium lectures later that afternoon. Throughout the weekend, the carefully selected experts will share how we can advance the “implants for life” concepts through their particular areas of expertise.
